Flood Update #2

This has been a very strange 10-day period to say the least! In the past 6 work days, I have been at the office 1 full day and a few half days here and there. The rest of the time I was either off to help sandbag or was home with CJ because our daycare was closed. Joel has been at work a bit more because several of the co-workers in his department are dealing with the flood in a more direct way (they were either evacuated due to flood waters or are monitoring dikes in their neighborhoods). Even so, Joel's work days have been a bit mixed up too, as he was home with CJ some when daycare was closed and also helped with sandbagging. Joel has really been a devoted volunteer in the sandbagging effort, as many others have been...I think he went everyday for 7 days. It is absolutely amazing to see our communities (and others from miles away) come together to help fight this flood. I'm sure all of the hard work is very much appreciated. We are thankful that most of the dikes appear to be doing their job and pray for people who have had property damage.

On a lighter note, it has been nice to be home a little bit more with CJ during the day. I do have to say that there were times when I have wondered what else we could do to keep ourselves busy during the day. I have to hand it to parents who stay home with their kids during the day - toddlers require almost constant attention and need lots of activities to do. To make things more complicated, there have been no-travel restrictions in the city to keep traffic down so roads would be open for vehicles involved in the flood fight...so that meant we were pretty much "stuck" at home. I for one am getting a little stir crazy and am looking forward to getting back to a more regular schedule...and soon! Here are a few pics of things we did while we were at home the past week.

Magnets are great, especially if Mommy can get a few minutes to do dishes -
