This is a great segue to talk about our recent getaway weekend to the Cities. Joel & I went to a Twins/Tigers game and stayed overnight downtown (CJ stayed with Grandpa & Grandma). We had a great view from our room!
Joel found some great seats (3rd row right behind 1st base) - we were right next to the Tigers dugout, so we could see a lot of action and it was terrific to be that close to the field. The game was quite a nail-biter because it lasted 16 innings and didn't get over until 12:15am on July 4th. It was extremely fun to watch and we had a great time (the icing on the cake was a Tigers win).
When we went to a Tigers game last year, we discovered that the team was staying at the same hotel we were at. So this year we stayed at the same spot and sure enough, the Tigs team was there again. Both times we got autographs of several players and it was pretty fun to meet some celebrities! Last year we got autographs from Justin Verlander, Curtis Granderson, Kenny Rogers (the baseball player, not the singer!), and Pudge Rodriguez. This year we got autographs from Edwin Jackson, Jim Leyland (the team manager), and also Brandon Inge. Joel is a huge Inge fan and he has been with the team most of his professional career (i.e. he has been with the team through thick & thin). So it's exciting to see Inge having a successful year. Here's a pic of Joel getting an autograph from Inge.
GO TIGS!
