Maple Bacon Biscuits

I made this Sunday morning before church - a maple bacon biscuit bake. DELICIOUS!!

I found the recipe on the King Arthur Flour site:
http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/2011/03/03/the-quintessential-late-march-tired-of-winter-self-indulgent-breakfast-maple-bacon-biscuit-bake/

When I first saw the recipe, I was drawn to it because of the sweet & salty combo with the bacon. I asked Joel if I dared to make it and he said definitely yes. I don't make treats like this very often because I know they will disappear quickly at our house. That held true this weekend - they were gone the same day!

First you start the recipe by roasting the bacon (topped with maple syrup) on top of a baking rack. Then make a brown sugar & butter sauce (YUM!) and stir in the bacon - put this mixture in the bottom of a pan. Then make drop biscuits and put on top of the brown sugar / bacon glaze. Bake in the oven & turn over on a plate. The result is a sweet & salty breakfast treat.

I highly recommend you try this!!! The process is fairly simple and doesn't require much hands-on prep time. I would recommend doubling or tripling the brown sugar glaze recipe though - we both thought it could use more gooey topping. If you're going to indulge anyway, you might as well go for it!
