CJ asked if we could go fishing and I said sure! I haven't been fishing in years - I used to go a lot with my grandparents (and my Mom too). CJ really wanted to catch a large-mouth bass - he learned about them on the PBS show Wild Krats. Last night he asked me to write a note that we were going fishing on Saturday...just to remind him in case he forgot.
He's all set to go!
We took the canoe out to a weed patch not far from the dock and used fake minnows for bait. It didn't take long for the first sunfish to hook onto CJ's bait -- look what he caught. He was so ecstatic! He followed directions so well and was very patient with the whole process. I'm very proud of our kiddo.
CJ caught 4 sunfish and I was the one that caught a bass. I wish CJ could have snagged the bass, but he was so happy to see one up close, that I don't think he really cared who caught it.
We had a terrific time fishing and CJ already wants to go out fishing again this afternoon. He's hooked!

Looks like a perfect way to spend the day. Look forward to hearing CJ tell about his fishing experience. He has been telling us too that he wanted to go fishing for a wide-mouth bass. I was wondering where he got the idea.
