Double Blizzard

Late last week our region was hit with a double blizzard. Yes, that is possible! The event started Thursday afternoon with blowing snow. We had a short break on Friday from the high wind, but then the snow picked up again later in the day and caused blizzard conditions until mid-day Saturday.

I thought it was a good old fashioned blizzard, where you are literally snowed in at home and can't go anywhere (and wouldn't want to). Everyone was advising no travel in our city and throughout the region. It was quite a storm system!

It's hard to show some of the drifts that were in our yard, but we'll try. This photo is looking into our backyard. I would say it was over 3 feet tall. I guess we are a bit more sheltered in our area of town (since there are more trees), but I have heard people say that homes on the edge of town had 5 feet drifts. Yikes!
