I am about 3 months late in doing this post, way overdue! We had CJ's birthday party with family & friends on his actual birthday, April 17th. His birthday was also Palm Sunday and his Sunday school class sang in church. We had almost 30 people at our house for a birthday lunch (we had ham, twice-baked potatoes, salads, fruit, Joyce's famous Jello eggs, etc.). We had a terrific day together!
Getting lunch ready -
Playing balloon catch -
Kids playing in the basement
I love these kiddos sitting at a table together!
Opening gifts - CJ received so many nice gifts and a good variety too!
One of the things we gave him was a fishing rod for the lake!
Going to show Great-Grandpa his new fishing rod and asking if he could show him how to use it at the lake
Mind your manners - we must read the card first before opening the gift :-)
We're also teaching CJ to be grateful and tell people thank you for the gifts he gave them. I think just about everyone in the room got a hug!
A new GeoTrax train set - so exciting! CJ loves trains...
We had a Chuggington / trains themed birthday party. I made the cake this year. It was very homemade-looking, but it did the trick!
Time to blow out the candles!
CJ wanted to set up his new train set right away!
Here's the birthday poster my Dad made for CJ!
A couple of family photos - the day was so busy that we didn't take as many posed shots with people (I'm bummed about that). Here are a few at least!
Grandpa Pete & Grandma
Aunt Allie & Uncle Bruce
A few family members stuck around later in the afternoon. CJ was having a snack and Great-Grandpa was telling him to "snarf up that biscuit" and "clean up those groceries"! CJ was giggling about what Great-Grandpa had said. My Grandpa has the funniest terms and we love hearing what he's going to come up with next!
A little time for soccer with Daddy before the day is over - CJ started soccer practice that next week.
I say this every year, but I can't believe how big our boy is getting. We look forward to experiencing many joys with CJ in the year ahead!
