Cute Phrases

CJ is talking a lot more now and puts several words together into a phrase or sentence. Sometimes it seems like he has so many thoughts going through his head, that it's difficult for him to get all of it out at one time and he ends up jumbling words together. We can usually pick out the main point of the sentence though, so he gets his point across.

Joel & I started making a list of some of the cute phrases from the past few weeks and thought you might enjoy reading them...

* Oftentimes Joel will ask CJ a silly question and CJ will respond with "yeah" (not really understanding what Joel just asked him). On CJ's birthday after we had ice cream, we were walking around and there was a tattoo place next door. Joel asked CJ if he wanted a tattoo for his birthday and CJ said "yeah!".

* "CJ turn new bike" and "Outta the dirt!" - see previous April blog posts for the whole story.

* While I was shopping for a new bike, Joel let CJ sit in the driver's seat of the van. CJ pointed to the ignition and said "Keys? Keys?"

* On CJ's birthday, he was talking away and I turned around to look at him while he talked. Then he said "happy." We hadn't ever heard him say that word before, so I said, "Oh CJ, that's great!" Then CJ grabbed my hand, looked me in the eye and said "CJ happy." Oh, so cute!

* After Joel came back from getting his hair cut, CJ said "Dada new hair."

* There have been various situations where Joel or I will ask each other a question (e.g. Could you get me a ____ or I like that ___). CJ has caught onto this and says "I do too!" Well, there was a new twist to this phrase a few days ago - CJ said "I do toot" with a very distinct "t" sound on the end (after a very distinct toot). I guess he finds bathroom jokes humorous, just like someone else in this family!

* When we went to the zoo, we saw onagers (a member of the horse family: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onager). Instead of saying onager, CJ said "Mommager."

This new phase brings yet another element of surprise in that you never know what CJ is going to say next!
